Man arrested with battery operated gun

A battery-operated 12 bore muzzleloader gun was seized and its owner arrested yesterday by Thiniyawala Police during a raid in the Hayahavula area in Thiniyawala.

The Police carried out the raid on information from the public that the suspect owned a firearm that he used to hunt wild animals.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had turned out a 12 bore muzzleloader fired with a 9 volts battery.
Police said they initiated further investigations to find the use of the gun for other criminal activities if any.
OIC Thiniyawala Police CI T.P. Wedisinghe, Sergeant 45920 Wijewardene, PCs 84312 Madusanka, and 92526 Darshana had carried out the raid.
