Megapolis and Western Development Ministry adjudged the best by copa

Megapolis and the Western Development Ministry was adjudged the best in terms of its performance from among 48 ministries by Parliament’s Committee on Public Accounts (COPA), Daily Mirror learns.   

The Ministry received 93 marks as the best ministry in the evaluation carried out by the COPA.   

“The Department of Treasury Operations has obtained 100 marks among 93 State Departments, while the Gampaha District Secretariat has received 100 marks among 25 District Secretariats. The North-Central Provincial Council has obtained 92 marks among nine Provincial Councils.  

The report presented to Parliament by COPA by its chairman MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna presented the recommendations of the committee on 48 Government institutions - 17 ministries, 15 departments and 10 District Secretariats - examined during the period from 17 January 2012 to 25 October 2012. During this time the Committee examined 48 Government institutions based on the audit paragraphs reported in the Auditor General’s reports.
