Men who visited Kataragama violating curfew fined and quarantined

A group of four young men who visited Kataragama violating the curfew regulations who pleaded guilty were fined Rs.3,000 each and placed under a 21 day quarantine by the Tissamaharama District Judge and Magistrate Kanchanamala Susantha Gunasekara.   


The four suspects Vidanagamage Kamal Thushara, Vidanagamage Kumudu Ishara, M.S. Nipuna Dhananjaya and R.R. Suresh Darshana from Colombo had made the trip to Kataragama on motorcycles. Since they had no valid reason for their visit, They had had been arrested by the Kataragama Police.   


Police said the suspects when questioned how they passed the check points at district boundaries and provincial boundaries, they had stated that they owned a tourist hotel at Wedihitikanda Road and that they came to refurbish it to be reopened when curfew was lifted.   


However, OIC Kataragama Police CI Upul Liyanagama who decided that the four young men had made the trip to Kataragama by misleading Police officers and passing through checkpoints, produced the four men in court.   After paying the fine, they were handed over to the Kataragama MOH Dr. J.Harshana Pradeep who placed  them under 21day quarantine under the supervision of Kataragama Administrative PHI Saman Dissanayake and area PHI Dilan Buddhika.   


They had been arrested by Sergeant 28389 Dhanasena, PCs 24727 Dias, and 92782 Pramod and produced in court by Sergeant 3646 Kamalsiri.
