Most Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) seniors hope to enter Parliament through the national list, a former MP from the party said yesterday.

Former SJB MP and its Polonaruwa District Leader Kins Nelson told a media briefing that most senior members of the party are expected to enter Parliament through the national list this year.

“Most of our senior members including General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara are expected to come from the national list this year,” Mr. Nelson said.

Responding to a question raised by the journalists about the party leader Sajith Premadasa, the former MP said the latter will contest from the Colombo District this year as well. Apsari Tilakaratne, wife of former Sri Lankan cricketer Ashan Tilakaratne is one of the new comers who will be contesting from the SJB in Colombo.

The former MP who referred to a remark made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake that he has files on corrupt acts of political leaders questioned him on the authenticity of this information. “Now that you have come to power, where are these so-called files?” Be transparent with this information,” he told the President.

He said President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has not kept his promises that he made when he was campaigning, precisely stating “Everyone can talk beautifully. I request the public to not fall under the influence of such talk,” he added.
