Based on the 1979 verdict of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama

Secretary – Alhaj Abdul Jawadh Alim Waliyyullah Trust Moulavi K. R. M. Sahlan Rabbani in a letter addressed to Minister of Justice Ali Sabry had stated that there will be an opportunity for another person from Kattankudy other than Zahran Hashim to mobilise Muslim Youth pursue Wahhabism and turn them into extremism.
“In the future, there will be an opportunity for another person from Kattankudy to campaign based on the 1979 verdict of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, popularising among the people of Kattankudy and mobilise Muslim youth to actively pursue Wahhabi fundamentalism and turn them towards to extremism. This is because it is an obvious fact that all such activities have been carried out by the terrorist Zahran Hashim in the past and it should be noted that Zahran Hashim was born in 1986,” the Moulavi said in his letter.

The Moulavi said in his letter to Minister Sabry had recalled how Zahran had promoted Wahhabism and had worked in accordance with the ‘Fatwa’ issued by All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama.

The ‘fatwa’ of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama issued in 1979 against As-sheikh Moulavi Abdur Rauf Misbaahi is a violation of fundamental rights and the Moulavi’s life is under threat. Besides this, during the meeting with the Presidential Task Force ‘One Country, One Law’, he has expressed his views on this. The views expressed by the State Minister so are absolutely true. In addition, we express our heartfelt gratitude to the State Minister for taking constructive action in view of the problems faced by Sufi Muslims for 42 years, hidden truth, due to the injustice and unlawful verdict.

The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) issued a ‘’fatwa’’ on 01.04.1979 declaring the leader of Sufi Muslims Moulavi A. Abdur Rauf Mibaahi and tens of thousands of his adherents who believe the theological doctrine “Wahdat al-wujud” (Oneness of being) are “murtads” (apostates). It had been written in the book of verdict that if one adapts conversion from Islam with his own consciousness and without anyone’s compelling, he should be killed according to Islamic law. While the ACJU still remains in the same point of view of verdict issued in 1979, State Minister Channa Jayasumana has written the letter to the Minister of Justice on verdict of ACJU. The ACJU having woken up from deep sleep, its secretary As-sheikh Arkam Nooraamith has expressed false views on official ACJU website (07-01-2022). We anticipate All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama to clarify the false statement of the General Secretary,” he added.

Also, he said what State Minister Channa Jayasumana in a letter addressed to Mr. Sabry and what he expressed before the Presidential Commission on One Country one Law was true.
