Multi-million worth property earned by soldier in drug trafficking seized

Property valued more than Rs.03 million earned by a soldier of the commando regiment through the contraband trade of drug trafficking was seized by Kandy Division Crime Investigation Unit.   

The suspect was a resident of Thiruwanakanda in Menikdivela off Kandy.

Police said they seized a trishaw modified with luxuries valued about Rs.01 million, and three motorcycles valued about Rs. 02 million purchased by the suspect.   A senior police official said the police initiated investigations regarding the suspect’s well-furnished house at Thiruwanakanda and that steps would be taken to obtain a court order to seize that property on completion of investigations. 

He said the suspect was at present on remand in connection with several cases against him on charges of drug trafficking.
