Murder of Prisons Training School Chief Jailor Two suspects arrested along with weapon

Two more suspects were arrested along with a T56 assault rifle in connection with the murder of Chief Jailor of the Welikada Prisons Training School, Police said.  
The Ambalangoda Police initially arrested a 27-year-old man, a resident of Kuleegoda, on Monday  over the shooting after analysing the CCTV footages
and telephone records.  


Police said following the questioning of the suspect, the police recovered  the T56 assault rifle which had been used in the shooting. They also recovered a magazine loaded with T56 ammunition and the motor cycle which was used by the gunmen. Meanwhile, the police also arrested a 42-year-old suspect who is alleged to have trained the suspect in using the assault rifle.


The two suspects were to produced in the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court.  


The 27-year-old arrested earlier,was charged for aiding and abetting in the murder of the Chief Jailor.  


The 44-year-old Chief Jailor, who was a resident of Ambalangoda, was killed when he was shot at by unidentified gunmen at Kuleegoda Junction in Ambalangoda
on August 3.
