Transport Services Minister Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday denied the social media posts and fake news spreading about the special facilities given by the government for his son who returned from UK on Monday (16). The Minister said he did not want special treatment for his son from the government and that he had instructed him to undergo the quarantine period. “I saw some fake posts shared on Facebook and other social media platforms saying that my son had been provided a special flight from SriLankan airlines when he was returning to the country and was getting special treatment at the quarantine centre,” he said. Minister Amaraweera said that his son had returned to Sri Lanka via an Emirates flight and had gone to the quarantine centre as a normal passenger entering quarantine centres through the airport. He further said that his son had acceded to the request to move to the quarantine centre after he returned and was currently at the Diyatalawa quarantine centre.
