UNP MP Chaminda Wijesiri yesterday said he is undecided on how to use his vote in Parliament with regard to the no confidence motion (NCM) that have been brought against Minister of Industry and Commerce, Resettlement of Protracted Displaced Persons, Co-operative and Skills Development Rishad Bathiudeen. MP Wijesiri told a press conference yesterday that he will decide on the matter after a careful consideration.
“I am yet to take a stand on the no confidence motion but will only decide after careful consideration on developments including how the select committee appointed to look into the Easter Sunday attacks progresses,” the MP said. “I will not use my vote for my personal benefit but for the betterment of the country,” he added. Mr. Wijesiri said the Minister Bathiudeen should be made to resign before the no confidence motion against him comes up in Parliament. “Action should be taken against Mr. Bathiudeen under Prevention of Terrorism Act if it is proven that he has helped the terrorists,” Mr. Wijesiri also said. “According to the information I have received the minister had handed over the letter of resignation but President Maithripala Sirisena had refused to accept it,” he added.
