The Central Environment Authority (CEA) has initiated a national programme to minimize greenhouse gases and air pollutants, CEA Chairman S. Amarasiri said.
He said the programme was implemented following the instructions of the President. A report regarding the activities conducted so far in this regard was presented to the President. He further said the programme would continue throughout this year (2021) and will focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions as well as all gaseous pollutants in the atmosphere, he said.
The programme will create a cleaner environment, ensure health and safety and achieve the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement, the Chairman said.
