Navy seizes 40 kilos of heroin, five suspects arrested

A consignment of 40 kilos of heroin smuggled to the country was seized, and five suspects were arrested by the Navy during a raid in the sea off Galle yesterday.

The suspects on board the multi-day trawler were brought to the Galle harbour.

Investigations revealed the multi-day trawler had left on November 04 from the Gandara Fisheries Harbour and was seized yesterday 200 kilometres off the Galle harbour with the stock of heroin on board.

The suspects and the consignment of heroin were handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Bureau for further action.
