New govt to be formed under leadership of Ranil Wickremesinghe in 2024 :Vajira

A new government will be formed under the leadership of current UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in the year 2024, UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardene said yesterday.  

Mr. Abeywardene who was speaking at the UNP Balamandala meeting said this new government will comprise some members of the present government and some from the opposition.  

“We have already begun discussions with some ruling party MPs who have been disillusioned and also with some opposition MPs. However we are not in a position to divulge information about this move yet,” Mr. Abeywardene said.  

“ Some Ministers and opposition MPs are continuously making requests from the UNP Leader to come to Parliament through the national list,” he added.  

Mr. Abeywardene said the UNP should be organised at grass root level for a change of government in 2024.
