Nugegoda Anti-Vice Squad nabs drug peddler

A drug peddler who had in his possession 11.160 grams of heroin was arrested by the Nugegoda Division Anti-Vice Squad during a raid at Nagahamulla  in Wellampitiya.   


Police said the 32-year-old suspect was a resident of Wellampitiya, and a close associate of a racketeer popularly known as “Wellampitiya Madhu” who had been arrested earlier in connection with a double murder. 

 
The police arrested the latter on a tip- off that the suspect was carrying a stock of heroin riding a motorcycle.   
However, at the time of arrest the suspect was in possession of a 9 mm pistol and ammunition, but not the heroin.   
Under interrogation, he stated that the handed it to ‘Wellampitiye Madhu’ engaged in the trade of drug trafficking.   Sergeants 30674 Priyankara, 8010 sampath, PCs 48914 Ekanayaka, 37819 Jayatilleka, 85511 Senerath, 87814 Dhanushka, and 93818 Abeyratne of the Mirihana Anti-Vice Squad are conducting further investigations.
