One dead, two injured in shooting

Police say the deceased had been involved in drug trafficking

One died and two others were seriously injured in a shooting at Moraketiara in Tangalle on Sunday night (05). The injured were admitted to the hospital. 

The victim R.P.Asela Sampath (37) was a resident of Kudawella in Tangalle and owner of multi-day trawlers. 
He with two others were travelling by a double cab to Nakulugamuwa at about 8.00 pm on Sunday when their way was obstructed by two men on a motorcycle who shot them. 

During investigations, the police recovered the motorcycle that had been left by the roadside in Pahajjawa area. Police said the deceased had been involved in drug trafficking and that a conflict between two groups of racketeers would have led to the killing. 

HQI Tangalle Police IP Vajira Indrajith and OIC Crime Branch IP Gayantha Karavita are conducting further investigations.
