PC arrested for selling drugs

The suspect was arrested on information provided under interrogation of several drug peddlers taken into custody under the ‘Yukthiya’ operation

A PC attached to Thanthirimale police was arrested on Monday night (17) on suspicion of his involvement in drug peddling.   

Police said he had been a close confidante of drug trafficker popularly known as ‘Game Akka’ the kingpin behind the contraband trade of distributing drugs in the Anuradhapura area.   
The 37 year old police constable is a resident of Kurundankulama.   

A senior police official said the suspect was arrested on information provided under interrogation of several drug peddlers taken into custody under the ‘Yukthiya’ operation.   

The suspect PC had in his possession a stock of heroin at the time of arrest during a raid at the Nuwarawewa tank bund.   

He was to be produced before Anuradhapura magistrate.   

A police team under OIC Intelligence Unit of Anuradhapura Crime Investigation Division CI Chaminda Gunasekara had carried out the raid on the instructions of SSP Thilina Hewa Pathirana and DIG Laksiri Wijesena and arrested the suspect.
