PS Chairman and members arrested for obstructing doctors at hospital

The Chairman , Vice Chairman and another member of the Welikanda Pradeshiya Sabha were taken into custody yesterday for allegedly obstructing the duties of the government doctors, according to the police.  

They have been arrested after a complaint was lodged at the Welikanda police about the obstruction of duties of the Director of the Polonnaruwa General hospital and a team of doctors when they visited the Welikanda hospital on Monday(16) to supervise the Corona Covid -19 quarantine process in operation in Welikanda Polonnaruwa .  

The Arrested PS Chairman Kavindu Priyantha Abeysuriya (UNP), Vice Chairman Samantha Bandara(SLFP) and PS member Sampath Prasad were due to be produced in 
court yesterday.  

The investigation is being carried out by the OIC Welikanda IP Lasantha Bandara on the instruction of Polonnaruwa SSP Oshan Hewawitharana
