A woman who gave a massage to her paramour just after her  husband left for employment abroad and spent the day enjoying with him  had taken ill and died in his company. Her paramour was taken into  custody by Meegoda Police on suspicion.

The deceased was 66 years old and her husband (62) had returned  to the country recently for a vacation and had left for employment again in  the early hours of the morning. Investigations revealed that their two  children are employed abroad.

Another woman, a relative of the deceased, told police that  she was in the house when the suspect came and that she prepared tea  for both of them and left to visit a patient in a neighbouring house.  She stated that when she returned a little while later she found the  deceased and the suspect naked in a room and the deceased frothing.

Investigations revealed that she had called the neighbours  who rushed to the scene assaulted the suspect, who was naked, and tied  him to a tree. Later, they called the 1990 Ambulance Service to rush  the woman to the hospital, but the medical staff in the ambulance who  examined her pronounced her already dead.

The suspect in custody is a 62-year-old retired soldier from Niyandagala in Pannipitiya.

Police said the cause of death was yet to be established  and that the postmortem examination was to be held at Homagama Base  Hospital yesterday.

OIC Meegoda Police CI Neville Priyantha is conducting further investigations.
