Pavithra holds secret vote to decide support for Ranil or SLPP

Minister of Forest Conservation, Wildlife and Irrigation Pavithra Wanniarachchi organized a closed-door meeting at her residence in Pelmadulla to seek the opinion of her supporters on which candidate she should endorse in the upcoming Presidential Election.   

The attendees were given slips to mark their choice confidentially and submit it directly to the minister.  

Addressing the audience, Minister Wanniarachchi reflected on her political journey from a Provincial Council Member to holding various ministerial responsibilities. She emphasized the importance of seeking input from those who have supported her throughout her career during this crucial juncture.  

The meeting was attended by former chairmen of local government institutions and representatives of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) at the grassroots level. Some of Minister Wanniarachchi’s supporters suggested backing President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s candidacy. The minister assured them that she would communicate her decision in the near future, indicating a significant development within the political landscape ahead of the impending election.
