Crocodiles have glided onto the roads underwater in the rain affected areas in the North, creating an additional danger to human life.

Wildlife officers had captured several of them and released them into forest reserves. They have warned the people to be cautious of any possible danger from crocodiles.

Disaster Management officials said incessant rain for the last several days had created a flood threat disrupting civilian life. They pointed out that the situation would be worse if the inclement weather continued unabated.

However, steps have been taken to provide urgent relief to the affected families.

Meanwhile, tanks and reservoirs in the Rajarata area in the North Central Province were reaching spill level due to the heavy rain experienced at present.

They said two spill gates in Angamuwa tank were opened yesterday afternoon to release excess water at a speed of 1865 sq.ft per second. The engineers warned the people living in the low-lying areas of Kalaoya river to be cautious of any possible flood threat.
