People’s Struggle Alliance launches protest march

• Says main effort of the alliance is to prevent the government from acting as a puppet of the IMF 

The People’s Struggle Alliance which comprises few organizations and political parties which includes the Frontline Socialist Party have launched a protest march which is taking an anti IMF line and to ensure that elections are held on time.  

Member of the alliance Wasantha Mudalige said the main effort of the alliance is to prevent the government from acting as a puppet of the IMF and to prevent any postponement of elections..   

“We have decided to contest all future elections and we will go to the people with an alternate programme. Our effort is to form a new administration with suitable partners,” he added.  

The protest which began from Kandy last week reached Colombo during the weekend and was heading towards Galle by last afternoon.
