A decision has been taken to file action against two officers of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation for the loss of Rs.358 million to the Corporation due to the sale
of tar.
According to Audit investigations, the Corporation had suffered a loss of Rs.358 million by the sale of tar of the corporation less than the price prevailing in the World Market.
A senior spokesman of the corporation said that the loss had been exposed by the investigations carried out by the FCID (Financial Crimes Investigations Division), Presidential Investigations Commission and two audit investigations of the corporation.
Allegations were levelled against a Deputy General Manager of the Corporation and a senior official in that regard, of whom one official had already retired while the other one was still in service.
Meanwhile, a senior spokesman of the corporation said that the case had been referred to the Attorney General for filing action against the two officials.
