Plans are underway to develop Gampola town : MP Anuradha Jayarathna

Steps have been taken to modernise Gampola town with a new plan as an administrative town which was not developed for several decades.   
This plan was discussed in the divisional secretariat auditorium at the request of Kandy district parliamentarian, Anuradha Lanka Jayarathna with the Minister Gamini Lokuge, Chairman of the Gampola Urban Council Samantha Arunakumara, Divisional Secretary of Udapalatha Thushari Tennakone with the participation of various government officials.   
The former Prime Minister D. M. Jayarathna who represented the area, made attempts to develop this town on several occasions, it became unsuccessful. However, parliamentarian Anuradha Jayarathna has taken steps to implement it.   


Accordingly, all the administrative buildings in Gampola town would be shifted to Mahara area and a land plot of 8 acres have been allocated for this purpose.   Flyovers, trade complexes , subways and flats are proposed to be constructed at the meeting and the constructions works would be started soon.    


When engaging on a observation tour in the Gampola town, Minister Gamini Lokuge and Anuradha Lanka Jayarathna said that the plans initiated by the present President as the Secretary to the Urban Development Ministry,  would be implemented as envisaged by him.
