Police destroy ganja cultivation in Koslanda

About an acre of ganja chena cultivation in Thelamboara at Aluthwela in Koslanda police area was destroyed and a suspect was arrested by Uva Province Anti-Narcotics Unit. 


Police said the well grown bushes of ganja plants had grown up to about 12 feet.   


The suspect under interrogation stated that the stock of ganja plants destroyed during the raid was valued more than Rs.2.5 million. He was a resident of the Veherajaya area, who had dealings with racketeers from other areas.   


 Police said few ganja plants were collected as case production and the rest were destroyed due to difficulties in transporting them. The suspect was handed over to the Koslanda police to produce him before the Bandarawela Magistrate.  


OIC Anti-Narcotic Unit SI M.Ratnayake, Sergeant 25644 Premakumara, PCs 3681 Dissanayke, 30433 Ratnasiri, 41795 Kamalasiri, 5956 Kusumsiri and 17151 Eranga carried out the raid on the instructions of  Uva Province DIG- Jagath Palihakkara.
