Police probe fatal shooting of woman, daughter and officer by fellow constable

Constable Udara, who was stationed at the Karandugala Police Station, was killed by Constable Kumara using his service weapon, a T-56. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the reason of shooting his fellow constable.

Following this, Kumara reportedly went to the home of a 54-year-old woman and her daughter in Nelliadda, Ampara, and shot them.The house where the murders occurred was located near Kumara’s residence. Police suspect that the motive behind these killings may be related to an ongoing land dispute.After the shootings, Constable Kumara is believed to have taken his own life.

The Ampara and Monaragala Superintendent of Police are leading the investigation into these incidents to determine the full circumstances and motive behind the violent acts.
