The Court of Appeal has yesterday decided to issue an order on march 31, with regard to issuing notices to the respondents of the writ petition filed by former State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake seeking an injunction restraining him from losing his parliamentary seat.
The petition was heard by a bench comprising Justices Ajuna Obeyesekere and Mayadunne Correa for the last three days.
Attorney-at-Law Suren Fernando appearing for petitioner Ranjan Ramanayake requested Court that it had been three months since sentencing his client and requested the Court to issue the above order.
Earlier, the Court of Appeal extended the stay order directing the Secretary General of Parliament to refrain from taking any action regarding Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Ranjan Ramanayake’s Parliamentary seat until March 24.
