Remanded for robbery of imitation gold chain

 A robber, who waylaid a school teacher and robbed her of a gold chain after throwing chilli powder on her face only to find it an imitation gold chain. She was on her way back after school when she faced the incident at Madepitiya in Passara, The teacher told police that she had bought it for Rs.500 from a pavement hawker.   

 However, she had given the details of clothes he was wearing and his features to the residents of the area who rushed to the scene on hearing her cries and they had caught the robber and handed him over to the police.   

 The teacher said that she did not make a complaint since she had bought the imitation chain only for Rs. 500.   

 The suspect was produced before Passara Magistrate on Wednesday (03) and remanded.   

 OIC Hingurukaduwa Police Senerath Bandara is conducting further investigations.
