Request for assistance for medical treatment

H.Chalani Devmini Soysa of No. 58 Fonseka Road, Pandaura is suffering from a congenial shortening of her left lower limb involving both her thigh and  leg bones.   


Senior Consultant Total Knee Replacement and Arthroscopy, Apollo Hospital, Chennai Dr. C. Lenin who examined the patient has informed that it was a high risk surgery which would be performed in several stages including Osteotomy and Application of an Orthofix which requires the patient to be hospitalised for 1-10 days ( Procedure done in the operation theatre under “ C” arm control), Periodic Review as an outpatient till the osteotomy heals ( 3 to 6 months), and removing the Orthofix after the osteotomy heals.   


The hospital has informed that medical examination and treatment would cost Rs.400,000 ( US$ 6200) payable on admission.   


 Chalani’s father Nalaka Soysa says, being a manual worker maintaining his family with a meagre income , he is not in a position to meet expenses of the surgery and subsequent treatment. He requests donors to help him to save her  from this physical defect which would affect her future and her education.
