Compensation is still to be paid to some whose houses were damaged by the Salawa Army camp armoury explosion in 2016, Parliament was informed yesterday.
Minister of Agriculture, Mahaweli Irrigation, Rural Development, Internal Trade and State Minister of Defence Chamal Rajapaksa who revealed this situation in response to an oral question raised by MP Udaya Gammanpila said the previous government had not provided new houses to the victims whose houses were destroyed in the explosion but had only provided compensation.
The amount paid to a dead person’s family as compensation had been Rs.100,000. The minister assured that the present government will pay compensation to all the affected parties.
