Shanthi Foundation to set up first palliative care hospital

Shanthi Foundation has taken steps to establish the first Palliative Care Hospital in Asia at Ambatalava in Anuradhapura.   


Specialist Doctor Suharsha Kanathigoda said that foundation stone will be laid next week by Shanthi Foundation for the hospital that is expected to be constructed at a cost of 
Rs. 1400 million.   


Training programmes have already commenced to train doctors, nurses and other staff to serve in this hospital and all the medical facilities and hostel facilities will be available to kidney and cancer patients in critical condition.   


While, Sri Lankans domiciled in foreign countries had contributed to the construction of this hospital, Shanthi Foundation is serving voluntarily to make this programme a success.
