“Shilpasena Exposition” will be inaugurated at BMICH

‘Shilpasena Exposition’ a series of exhibitions which is claimed to be a catalyst which would find markets for the new innovations created by using new technology is being launched today by the Ministry of Science Technology and Research at BMICH today.   


Minister of Science Technology and Research Sujeewa Senasinghe told a media briefing yesterday that the programme will take the form of Gam Udawa and Mahapola. He said exhibitions will be held in different districts on a monthly basis.   

 

 

I took over the Ministry a few months ago and said there is time for him to hold the exhibition in four districts but hope that anyone who takes over my ministry in a future government will continue this programme


“ I particularly take Mahapola programme founded by late Minister Lalith Athulathmudali and even used my own private funds for it just like Mr. Athulathmudali,” the Minister said in this regard. \He said the exhibition will be made up of five clusters namely Technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and job fair, blue-green economy and entertainment. Technology cluster will be engaged in imparting latest technological knowledge to schools children, university students and to those in the research sector and in popularizing science, technology and research in the country, Innovative cluster will showcase 500 innovations and will engage in commercializing these products. The entrepreneurship cluster is being designed to lend a helping hand to those interested in their own feat. Therefore it will deal with small and medium enterprises and will cater to those who are interested in joining industries. Blue green sector will display show case stalls of other ministries. The entertainment cluster will showcase a book fair, food stalls, creative mind games and fun activities. “ I took over the Ministry a few months ago and said there is time for him to hold the exhibition in four districts but hope that anyone who takes over my ministry in a future government will continue this programme,” Minister Senasinghe said.

The Minister expressed this sentiment in response to a question raised by the journalists as to why the government had waited for four years to get on with development programmes. The inaugural show will be opened by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Minister of Housing Construction and Cultural Affairs Sajith Premadasa today while other important personalities will graze the exhibition during other days. The exhibition will be on till July 21, 2019.
