A petition filed in the Supreme Court seeking for a writ to the Acting IGP to arrest Digamadulla District Candidate Karuna Amman alias Vinayagamurthy Muralitharan for making a hate speech on June 19,  2020 boasting that he had killed a great number of soldiers at Elephant Pass than those killed by Covid 19.

The petitioner Boseth Kalahepathirana , a private Sinhalese tutor had filed this Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court citing the Attorney General , Digamadulla District Candidate Karuna Amman and the Acting Inspector General of Police as respondents.

The petitioner claims that every citizen is guaranteed equality before the law by Article 12 (1) of the Constitution and every citizen is bound by the rule of law.

However the 2nd respondent Karuna Amman had made a hate speech boasting that he had killed more soldiers at Elephant Pass than those lives claimed by Covid 19 which the petitioner claims was in Violation of Article 12(1) of the Constitution and Karuna Amman had made a confession punishable under the Evidence Ordinance and an offence committed under the Prevention of Terrorism Act

Hence the petitioner requested the Supreme Court to issue an order by way of a writ to the Acting Inspector General of the Police for the immediate arrest of Karuna Amaman  and to take necessary action against him for the gruesome offences committed by him.
