According to health authorities, more than 600 expatriate workers of the Wennappuwa area who returned from Italy and had been under self-quarantine in their homes completed their quarantine period. MOH Wennappuwa, Dr. K.M.Susantha Kumarasiri said, clearance certificates were issued to them. He added more than 100 others in quarantine centres had been discharged.
“People from several families in Wennappuwa area were expatriate workers in Italy. More than 6,000 of them who returned to the country last month were placed under self-quarantine. Among them were seven members of one family including an eleven-month-old infant child.
They were admitted to Angoda Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH). The child and his grandfather recovered and were released. His mother and five others are still under treatment.” The MOH said.
He further said the individuals released were educated on keeping up their health and on
preventive measures.
