A recent survey carried out by an environmental organization has revealed that a vast area of the Samanala forest range has been undergoing soil erosion. Representatives of the Samanala Kanda Rasika Environmental Organization pointed out that the erosion had been going on since long. Environmentalists of the Samanala Kanda Rasika Organization Chaminda Jayatunga Arachchi, Kumari Lakmali Senanayaka and Sasni Piyasiri had carried out the survey. They pointed out that the soil that eroded from the upper region of the Kunudiya hill range had flowed down the boulders into a stream. They pointed out that the on going erosion was clearly visible from Guruluwana and Diviyagala areas of the hill range. They said the hill range could be susceptible to further erosion.
