Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana is to announce the Supreme Court determination on the 20th Amendment to the Constitution on October 20, Parliament Media Unit said yesterday.
“Given that the Speaker announces the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the 20th Amendment to Parliament on October 20, the Committee on Parliamentary Business decided to meet again to make the necessary changes to the order paper to accommodate the debate on 20A,” a media unit statement said. Meanwhile, it has been decided by the leaders of political parties representing the House to confine today’s sessions only to oral questions. The condolence votes on late MPs Surangani Ellawala, K. P. de Silva and R. R. W. Rajapaksa which were to be taken up today, have been postponed for the next Parliamentary week.
