Surgery removes 10 kg tumor from a woman in Kataragama

A surgery to remove a 10 kg tumor from the uterus of a woman has been reported from the Kataragama area.  

A 40-year-old woman, a resident of Kataragama, had sought medical advice due to difficulties with eating and breathing, which led to the decision for the operation.   Dr. Samantha Samarawickrama, an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, stated that the woman who underwent the procedure is reported to be in good health following the operation.   

He stated that abnormal growth of cells in the uterus leads to the formation of cysts, and neglecting symptoms like abdominal discomfort can be life-threatening for the patient.
