Suspect remanded for defrauding people using their mobile numbers

A suspect who had defrauded people of millions of rupees by using various mobile SIMs, was remanded till July 4th by Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday.   

The suspect Mohan Dayalan of Hatton was remanded by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday after he was produced before the Court by the Internet Crime Monitoring Unit of the CID.   

The detectives stated to the Magistrate that the suspect had unlawfully accessed bank accounts of various SIM card holders using their mobile phone numbers.   

The detectives are further investigating the case to determine the actual amount defrauded by the suspect.   
Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered that the suspect be remanded and ordered the CID to file the progress of their investigations in court on July 4th, 2024.
