The government has decided to remove import duty and other taxes imposed on all imported face masks and disinfectants including sanitizers from midnight today, the Finance Ministry said.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed to remove the taxes considering the high demand for the products due to the prevailing health situation in the country following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Accordingly, the imported goods (Face masks and disinfectants) have been subjected to the Special Commodity Levy Act.
