The government is planning to complete work on three key road projects – the central expressway, Phase one of the Ratnapura expressway, and the Kurunegala –Dambulla expressway- by 2024, a state minister said yesterday.
State Minister Nimal Lanza told Daily Mirror preliminary work on the Ratnapura expressway had begun at the moment. He said Kahatuduwa would be the entry point of this expressway. Besides, he said the contract had already been awarded to a Chinese company for the construction of phase one of the central expressway between Kadawatha and Meerigama.
“Only 40 percent of work on the stretch between Meerigama and Pothuhera had been completed at that time. Besides, we will call for bids for construction of the final phase between Pothuhera and Galagedara in Kandy,” he said.
