The National People’s Power (NPP) is fielding an educated and experienced team for the general election to successfully implement the election manifesto ‘Thriving nation, a beautiful life’ of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, NPP general secretary Dr. Nihal Abeysinghe said yesterday.

He told the media after signing nomination papers, he said the NPP has fielded an educated and experienced team to all twenty-two electoral districts.

“All the nomination papers for the 22 districts were signed today. The nomination papers will be handed over to the respective district returning officers today and tomorrow,” he said.
He said the NPP was hoping to garner majority in Parliament so as to make the expected social revival.

“We have fielded an educated and experienced team free of fraud and corruption and most of whom have not been involved in politics so far. Parliament will consist of fresh and a different team. We request people to trust them,” he said.

JVP member Tilvin Silva said the nomination lists include some who are known to the country, some who have represented parliament earlier, multi ethnic leaders, professionals, women and Tamil and Muslim representatives.

JVP’s General Secretary Silva said he would not contest the upcoming election and that he will continue to function as the JVP general secretary.
