Minister said the country had better understanding of the virus, and it had led to the decrease in fatalities

Time is ripe for people to get used to work under the new normal without shutting down the country for economic activities, a minister said yesterday.
Money, Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal told Daily Mirror that the previous lock-down of the country after the first outbreak of COVID-19 impacted certain aspects of the economy.
“Some areas of the economy contracted as a result,” he said.
He said the country would suffer if the economic activities were withheld once again, and therefore the only option was to work under the new normal.
Unlike the previous occasion, the Minister said the country had better understanding of the virus, and it had led to the decrease in fatalities.
