Two nabbed with a large stock of outdated cosmetic products: Police

Two suspects were arrested with a large stock of expired cosmetic products from a house in Angurukaramulla area in Negombo last evening, the Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said. Speaking to the media during the daily briefing he said, the raid was conducted by the Negombo Police on a tip-off.  

“The police investigations revealed that the accused were importing inferior quality cosmetic items including facial cream. Most of the items were imported after the expiry date has lapsed from Pakistan,” he said.  

“During the raid, there was an ongoing process of repackaging and re-labelling those cosmetic products. The repackaging was done with famous brand labels and with new expiry dates before sending them to beauty parlours,” he said. The two suspects were produced to the Negombo Magistrate and remanded till June 10.
