The two-week ITEC training programme for a group of 29 journalists and media professionals from Sri Lanka on Media Management was successfully completed at the Dr. MCR Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana’s Centre for Law & Public Administration (CLP). The programme was sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha met the group today for an interactive feedback session at the High Commission premises in Colombo. The programme, held from 24 June to 07 July 2024, aimed to equip participants with advanced skills and insights into contemporary media practices across print, electronic, digital and social media platforms. The training included courses on the latest trends in media, including the use of new and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, and strategies to combat mis/disinformation. Participants also explored the pivotal role of Social Media in promoting Good Governance and acquired new skills relevant to the digital transformation of newsrooms and data-based reporting. The programme was further enriched with site visits, including to significant cultural and heritage sites in the region.
