Underworld gangster arrested with drugs

 An underworld gangster wanted in connection with his involvement in drug trafficking and other criminal offences was taken into custody by Katunayake police during a raid on a house at Andiambalama area.   
 Police said he was a close confidant of an underworld gangster hiding in Dubai and that he had been wanted in connection with his involvement in a murder in Horana area and stabbing an individual in Andiambalama area recently.   
 He had stolen motorcycles and trishaws which he used to travel in different areas procuring heroin and other illegal intoxicants to drug peddlers. He was in possession of 10.200grams of the illegal intoxicant ICE at the time of arrest.   
 During the raid the police seized property valued Rs.1.5 stolen by him and two motorcycles stolen by him.   
 He was to be produced before Minuwangoda and Horana magistrates.   
 A police team under OIC Crime Investigation Branch SI Daham Marasinghe is conducting further investigations on the instructions of OIC Katunayake police CI Ajith Nissanaka and ASP Gamini Ratnayake.
