Ven. Makkulawe Wimala Thera new Chief Prelate of Ramanna Nikaya

Chief Incumbent of the Mirigama Minioluwa Vidyavasa Pirivena Most Venerable Makkulawe Wimala Anunayaka Thera has been appointed as the Chief Prelate of the Ramanna Maha Nikaya.   

General Secretary of the Ramanna Maha Nikaya Ven. Attanagne Sasanaratana Thera announced the decision today at a special meeting of the Ramanna Maha Nikaya.   

Ven.Wimala Anu Nayaka Thera was appointed as the new Chief Prelate following the passing away of the Mahanayake of the Ramanna Maha Nikaya Most Venerable Napane Pemasiri Thera.   

Ven. Pemasiri Thera passed away on November 17 at the age of 98 years while undergoing treatment at the Peradeniya Hospital.   

The final rites of the late Pemasiri Thera was held yesterday.
