View expressed during online May Day rally SJB is a party of the oppressed people: Sajith

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is not a party of the rich and the upper class people but a party of the oppressed segment of the society, its Leader Sajith Premadasa said during the weekend.   

Speaking during the SJB online May Day rally on Saturday, the Opposition Leader said that the SJB  was a party of the oppressed and of the common people.   

“We are not a party which satisfies the needs of the elite but a party of the oppressed . We fully understand the plight of the working class. We are aware that the salary increments recommended by the Ranukge Commission is being ignored by the present government. We are also aware that many in the private sector have lost their jobs while salaries and allowances and even overtime payments of people have been lost,” Mr. Premadasa said.    “An SJB Government will implement the recommendations made by Ranukge Commission and will do away with the anomalies on the pension,” he said.   

The present government which came to power through the vote of the working class had forgotten them and what it pledged to do for the oppressed working class,” he added.
