Gampaha District Investigation Unit of the Consumer Affairs Authority yesterday commenced raids on business establishments selling wheat flour at prices increased by the flour manufacturing companies without the approval of the government.
Head of the Investigation Unit Pradeep Kaluthara Arachchi said the control price of flour was Rs.87 a kilo and that any trader selling at excessive prices would be liable for legal action. He said legal action was initiated against several dealers in Gampaha and Minuwangoda areas who sold wheat flour at prices varying between Rs.95 and Rs.100.
Investigations Officers A.D.Adikari, Hashan Kalubowila, Kushan Ravindu, and Dileep Nuwan carried out the raids on the instructions of Chief Investigations Officer Pradeep Kaluthara Arachchi, Govt.Agent Sunil Jayalath, and Chairman of the CAA Lalith N. Seneviratne
