Wild elephant attack injures mother and son

A woman and her son had been seriously injured when a house at Muriyakulama in Karuwalagaswewa came under wild elephant attack.  

A herd of Elephants which raided the village in the early hours of last morning had caused much havoc.The injured 65 year old elderly woman who was in critical conduction and her son who had a fracture in a lower limb was admitted to the Puttalam base hospital.The marauding herd had destroyed home garden crops had caused extensive damage to the house. One of the jumbos had given chase and hit the young man who attempted to save the mother. Residents of Muruyakulama village said a villager who had come under attack by a wild elephant few of days ago was in critical condition under treatment at the Chilaw general hospital.They accused the Civil Security Officers on duty at the electric fence nearby for their delay in arriving to drive away the jumbos and to save the woman.
