Claiming that the government is committed to build a country with a law which is applied to all Sinhala, Tamil and Muslims equally, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said yesterday
Speaking at an election rally in Trincomalee, he said people in Trincomalee district have a special responsibility to form a government with peace while ending the era of divisions.

“We will build a country with the law which is applied to all Sinhala, Tamil and Muslims equally. We will change any laws which hinder such moves and build a country where everyone could proudly say “I am Sri Lankan”,” he said.

He said people in the North have a huge awakening towards the National People’s Power (NPP) after the victory of the presidential election.

The President said only the NPP could form a government with the blessing and trust of all Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities.

He said steps would be taken to convert Pulmoddai Mineral Sands Mining into a value added industry and added that the Trincomalee Oil Tank Farm will be restructured. “We are looking into the possibility of initiating a refinery in the vicinity of the Tank Farm,” he said.
