Do you believe that the missing are still alive: Commission ask relatives

The kith and kin who went to give evidence to the Presidential Commission on Missing Persons at the Mulankavil Madhya Maha Vidyalayam on Sunday had been asked by the Commissioners if they believed the missing were still alive.
The Commissioners had also asked whether the members of the LTTE shot at them, whether their children were abducted or conscripted by the LTTE, whether the LTTE prevented them entering the area under the control of the Army and whether the LTTE infiltrated the area occupied by the Army with the civilians.
Although 50 persons were called to place their evidence before the Commission, only 40 were present.
The Presidential Commission on Missing Persons held the sittings on Sunday at Mulankavil Madhya Maha Vidyalayam.  “Our children were taken by the Tigers when the compulsory recruitment of LTTE was in place, but we are unaware of their shooting or infiltration,” they said.
“We believe that our children are yet alive, hence please make arrangements to release them. We don’t want any other help, all what we need are our children,” they said.
“We never heard anything about them thereafter.
My husband has become psychologically affected without seeing the children; however, I believe that my children are living,” she said. Sinniah Shanmuganathan from Nagapaduwan placing his evidence before the Commission said that he got information to the effect that his daughter Sajeetha who joined the LTTE in 2003, was at the Pammaipadu detention camp for women, however, when he visited the camp the soldiers had sent him  back saying that there was no such person at the camp.
