Two soldiers rewarded for saving child

Two Army personnel of the 57th brigade, division 574 in the Kilinochchi security forces headquarters who saved a one-and-half-year-old infant from drowning were rewarded by the Commander of the Security Force Headquarters, Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe.
The infant girl Sivakumar Singujan (1½) had fallen into a 25 foot deep well that had been filled up to about 15ft.   Cpl. Vijitha Perera and Cpl. D.M. Leelarathe who rushed to the scene on hearing the screams of the child’s mother jumped into the well at the peril of their own lives and saved the child who was on the verge of drowning.
The Commander of the Security Force Headquarters decided to reward their act of bravery .
